Shatavari (also known as Asparagus racemosus) is a species of asparagus that grows in the Himalayas. It is a popular traditional adaptogenic herb that is best known for stimulating the immune system for the treatment of ulcers and cancer. Shatavari is also known for treating women’s health issues, such as helping to promote the flow of milk in nursing mothers, decreases infertility, provides relief from PMS, used as a menstrual regulator, helps to prevent miscarriage, and helps with menopausal imbalances such as hot flashes. It is also used as a tonic for the circulatory, respiratory and digestive systems as well as nourishing the blood, calming the nerves and helping with insomnia. In Ayurvedic medicine it decreases Vata & Pitta and increases Kapha.
Best taken with warm drinks such as tea, but can also be added to smoothies or fresh juices. Works well with Ashwagandha
if using as a restorative tonic.
